Nollywood has taken over my life; no time for romance –Timini Egbuson

Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson has opened up about his personal life, dismissing the perception that he is a womaniser.

For him, his demanding acting career has left him little time for romance.

Speaking on The Culture League Podcast, the actor explained that his busy filming schedule has taken over much of his life, leaving little time for social activities or relationships.

“On set, we keep it professional. I can beat my chest that I don’t date the people I work with. I don’t date actors. So, where do I want to get the ladies from?” he said.

Timini noted that although many people perceive him as a womaniser, his reality is quite different, particularly over the past two to three years, when his acting career has taken priority.

“A lot of people assume that I am a womaniser, but I am not. In the past two or three years, Nollywood has taken over my life. There is no room for romance. From being on set all day to getting home at midnight, tired, that is when I will start asking, ‘What have you eaten? How was your day?’ I don’t have the capacity for that,” he said.

The actor, however, admitted he doesn’t mind the reputation, adding that he enjoys the attention and publicity it brings, even though it doesn’t reflect his private life.

“I don’t mind that womaniser tag. I enjoy it, the whole paparazzi thing. But in reality, I get back from set, take a shot of alcohol and sleep in my bed alone. For the past two years, I have been alone. I have not shared a bed with any woman for two years plus,” he stated.

Timini also reflected on how ageing and changing social circles have affected his access to social events and opportunities to meet women.

“The older you get, you will no longer be in the mix as you used to be. Before, I knew about every party happening in Lagos and got involved in them. But now, a lot is happening, and I don’t even know about them. I hear about them after they must have happened,” he said.

The Breaking Point star actor further observed that growing older inevitably changes one’s social relevance and the opportunities available for meeting potential partners.

“The truth is that no matter how handsome you are, you will get older at some point. And then, you will be relegated to certain things and places. So the pool of events where you can pick ladies has narrowed. It has become quite thin; we are left with only Instagram feeds,” he added.
