The convener of a nonprofit organization, Atti Naomi’s Foundation, Omomoemi Agbegha, has reiterated her commitment to improving healthcare access in underserved communities.

Agbegha embarked on this humanitarian initiative due to the problems Nigerians face in accessing qualitative healthcare delivery. She decided to bridge this gap by providing medical service through the foundation’s innovative approach that  involves floating clinics.

She explained in a chat with Daily Sun how she has been able to bring free medical services directly to the some rural communities in Nigeria and intends to expand her scope of service. The floating clinics are equipped with medical professionals, supplies and technology that navigate the waterways to reach isolated communities.

Agbegha, who is a doctor of pharmacy with about 10 years’ experience, stated that her vision is to bridge the gap between healthcare facilities and those living in remote regions. “I believe that everyone, regardless of their geographical location, deserves access to quality healthcare. By creating a network that connects healthcare providers in urban areas with individuals in remote regions, like the riverine areas who are deprived will benefit.

“My passion is to ensure that no one is left behind when it comes to receiving medical care. These floating clinics utilize telemedicine technology to allow for virtual consultations, diagnosis, and treatment plans to be provided to patients who may not have the means to travel to access qualitative healthcare facility.

“Additionally, partnerships with local community organizations and mobile health clinics have helped bring medical services directly to those in need.

“By bridging this gap, my organization has improved health outcomes, reduced disparities in healthcare access and ultimately improved the overall well-being of individuals in remote regions. Together, we can make healthcare more accessible and equitable for all,” she said.

Agbegha’s journey to success began when she founded the  foundation to provide free medical outreach to those in rural communities. Her dedication and impact did not go unnoticed. She was first recognized by the Rotary club international and awarded the Rotary global scholar award.
