Entrepreneurship seems to be running in the blood of Agatha Elumelu-Obiekwugo. Like her billionaire big brother, Tony Onyeamachi Elumelu, this enterprising founder of ADASSA Energy Limited —a fast growing energy company fully operating in the Nigeria downstream oil and gas sector— has proven to have an uncanny ability to spot good business opportunities.

Agatha is a silent achiever with an enviable rising profile in the boardroom and in the general investment circuit. With a proven track record of over 25 years of corporate experience spanning banking, merchandising, information technology, consulting and oil and gas, Agatha currently sits on the board of six blue chip companies operating in various sectors of the economy. With her success streaks in various sectors of the economy, Agatha has proven to the business industry players that she has got what it takes to win in any field she chooses to be a player. Those in the academic world are also paying attention to her feats as one of those powerful, strategic women managing industries and overseeing boardroom affairs.

Just last month, the Senate of Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) selected Agatha and five other prominent Nigerians as recipients of various honorary degrees at the institution’s 18th convocation ceremony held on Saturday, November 26, in Enugu. The entrepreneur was awarded the Doctor of Business Administration (Honoris Causa) as part of the highlights of the ceremony. Agatha holds a B.A in English & Literary Studies from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State and an MBA in Marketing. She also has a certificate of completion on strategy execution from Harvard Business School, Boston, Massachusetts, United States. She is also a founding member of Women in Energy Network where she currently serves on the Finance Committee of the Board.
