Soccer enthusiasts and Bundesliga alumnus, Victor Agali has applauded StarTimes, the official broadcaster of the Bundesliga in Nigeria for staging a magnificent Der Klassiker watch party in Egbeda, Lagos.
The event which was staged last weekend, saw Der Klassiker, a branded name for Bayern Munich, Dortmund league clash brought laughter, banter and chant amongst fans.
With the derby match being streamed live from Germany on giant screens, top dignitaries including erstwhile Schalke04 goal poacher, Victor Agali who painted the league with goals from 2001 to 2004 was available to cheer the teams.
Bayern, ever relentless, showed their pedigree with goals from Harry Kane and Michael Olise, before Dortmund’s late strike added tension and thrill to the night.
Each goal sent drinks flying, fans hugging strangers, and the street pulsing with raw emotion — a reminder that football is best felt together.
Reacting to the massive turnout, Agali gave kudos to StarTimes while urging the product never to relent in their effort to promote the league in urban and rural areas. He however hinted the Bundesliga has come to stay following the outcome and style of play being expressed by both teams.
“ Der Klassiker has always been an interesting duel and I’m glad it’s been brought to everyone’s door step. The Bundesliga has gone beyond a league and it’s obvious going by the atmosphere I met here today.”
“ Der Klassiker as we all know is a clash involving two giants club in Germany and I’m glad they showed their worth in this thrilling encounter. Once again I applaud StarTimes for this initiative and I’m using this medium to urge them never to relax in their dream to promote the league to where it should be,” he disclosed.
