Barely three days after the the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Niger State, released a list of candidates for various political parties for the 2019 general election in Niger State, there seems to be trouble in the state chapter of the party.
Some aggrieved aspirants are going to court, over alleged substitution of their names.
A House of Representatives aspirant for Magama/Rijau Constituency, Alhaji Jafaru Ilyasu, has vowed to drag the party to court over what he called “unilateral substitution” of his name by the party’s National Working Committee.

Alhaji Jafaru Ilyasu, presumed winner of the primary election for Magama/Rijau Federal Constituency, was angered by the substitution of his name with that of Alhaji Shehu Salleh whom he alleged never contested the primary election.
In the same vein, another aspirant, Alhaji Sani Musa, from Niger East, also a presumed winner, has threatened to take the party to court; over substitution of his name with that of a serving senator, David Umaru.
Sani Musa accused the party of high level impunity and has insisted that he will “not allow this injustice go unchallenged,” adding that “this open injustice must be corrected.”
