The Dangote Peugeot Automobiles Nigeria Limited (DPAN) plant in Kaduna has formally commenced the production of the new Peugeot 3008 and 5008 range.
The first vehicles are expected to go on sale any time from April 2026, offered in Allure and top-of-the-range GT trims, and powered by a 1.6-litre THP petrol engine developing 163 hp, paired with the EAT6 automatic transmission.

Built four years ago, the Greenfields plant in Kaduna manufactures the Landtrek pick-up in 4×4 and 2×4, single- and double-cab variants, and is now complemented by the production of the Peugeot 3008 and 5008.
DPAN was established six years ago through a joint venture between Dangote Industries Limited and Peugeot, as a commitment to local manufacturing of vehicles in Nigeria.
Commenting on the development at the Peugeot plant in Kaduna, Michael Whitfield, Stellantis South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa Managing Director, said the expansion of the product range would help Peugeot meet the needs of the local market.

Whitfield, who has a wealth of experience in the production and provision of vehicles in sub-Saharan Africa, further remarked: “Nigeria is one of the two biggest economies in Africa, and helping to create a local and sustainable automotive industry is part of the actualisation of the African Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
“We are happy to continue the work with Dangote Industries and believe the arrival of the new products will cater to the needs of our Nigerian customers.”
DPAN Commercial Director, Umar Kaita, also commented on the start of production at the Kaduna plant, stating: “Peugeot was a household name in Nigeria from the 1940s to the 1980s, and this local production will see the re-emergence of the (Peugeot) Lion in the Nigerian landscape once again.”
Dangote Peugeot Automobiles Nigeria Limited is the sole manufacturer and distributor of Peugeot vehicles in Nigeria
Early last year, as part of deliberate efforts to drive Peugeot — Nigeria’s most popular brand for many decades — back into the hearts of vehicle buyers in Nigeria, the plant unveiled the Landtrek pick-up range.
It was learnt at the weekend that the commencement of the Peugeot 3008 and 5008 production is also a demonstration of the commitment to repositioning Peugeot vehicles in the Nigerian market.
While the Peugeot 3008 is a popular, stylish mid-sized SUV known for its modern design and fuel-efficient engines, the 5008, on the other hand, is a larger seven-seater SUV.
The plant is currently producing the GT trim level of the 3008, which features auto headlights, fog lamps, daytime running lights, a sunroof with sliding function and cover, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
