Madagascar have removed goalkeeper Zacharie Boucher from their squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers ahead of their clash with Nigeria, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The 34-year-old goalkeeper had initially been included in the Madagascar squad despite controversial comments he made in 2018, when he rejected the possibility of representing the island nation.
Boucher’s previous remarks reportedly triggered significant backlash in Madagascar following his call-up, with sections of supporters calling for the goalkeeper to be withdrawn from the squad.
The pressure has now resulted in Boucher being removed from the team as Madagascar prepare for their AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign.
Madagascar are set to face Nigeria as both nations continue their quest to secure qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
