Adeleke launches 10,000 canvassers ahead of August 15 poll

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has launched 10,000 Imole canvassers ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

The launch took place yesterday at Ijebu-Jesa, at an event organised by Hon. Pelumi Olajengbesi, Accord Party House of Representatives candidate.

Speaking at the event, Adeleke applauded the “massive outpouring” of support from the people of Ijesa, saying the presence of the people shows that Accord has become stronger in the state “despite the defection of some lawmakers”.

He claimed that the APC is “highly unpopular” and is becoming “desperate” due to its rejection by the people, warning that violence cannot change people’s love for Accord and urging residents to come out to vote massively on election day.

He also described Hon. Pelumi Olajengbesi as “David” destined to defeat “Goliath” in the opposition party.

Adeleke urged voters to see their vote as their voice, saying, “Our vote is our voice.”

Earlier in his address, Olajengbesi said the event served to officially inaugurate the 10,000 canvassers and demonstrate the support of the people of Ijesa North for Adeleke and Accord.

He argued that the victory of his constituency seat and Adeleke’s re-election are necessary to “liberate” Ijesa North from “darkness” and from “its oppressor”, adding that the people are solidly behind the governor.

Also speaking, Hon. Sunday Bisi, Chairman of the PDP in Osun, assured Adeleke that votes from Ijesaland would be greater than those from Ede (Adeleke’s hometown), declaring that both Ijesa North and South are behind him.

The Governor was accompanied by his Deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi; DG of the Imole Campaign Council, Akogun Lere Oyewumi; Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alh. Kazeem Akinleye; his sister, Yeyeluwa Modupeola Adeleke-Sanni; other leaders of Accord and the PDP, as well as top government officials.
