Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has showcased the business opportunities within the state, highlighting its high scores on ease of doing business, during a meeting with a delegation of multi-sectoral investors from China.
In a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Friday, the governor who hosted the investors at the Government House in Osogbo on Thursday evening, encouraged genuine investors to take advantage of the Osun Free Trade Zone, which he described as open for business.
He emphasized that the state is actively addressing infrastructure deficits to create a conducive environment for business growth.
Governor Adeleke noted that several investors have already begun activities at the Free Trade Zone and other industrial hubs throughout Osun, expressing gratitude to the Chinese delegation for selecting the state as their investment destination.

“You are warmly welcome to the state of the living spring. We are repairing our roads, bridges, schools, and health infrastructures, as we recognize that good infrastructure is essential for business and economic growth,” he stated. The governor added, “We have harmonized and automated our tax regime, reducing the burden on businesses. Additionally, we have established a 48-hour timeframe for the acquisition of certificates of occupancy (CofO) under an automated system. Our ease of doing business rating is very high.”
He assured the delegation that they would receive excellent support and facilitation from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, which is staffed by a team with international expertise.
Dr. Yusuf Fadairo, speaking for the Shanghai Fadewei International Trade Company Limited, explained that the delegation chose Osun State for two primary reasons: their admiration for the popular musician Davido and reports of good governance under Governor Adeleke. Fadairo noted that “Davido is more popular in China than even in Nigeria,” which helped pique interest in the governor.
The delegation expressed satisfaction with the facilities and utilities at the Free Trade Zone, indicating their readiness to establish multiple factories once all regulatory matters are resolved.
Other members of the Chinese delegation included experts in various sectors such as amusement park operations, paint production, electric tricycles, and logistics. The Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye, along with the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo, and other high-ranking officials, were present during the visit.
