…Appreciate FCT Minister for Supporting Indigenes
From Charity Nwakaudu, Abuja
The Archbishop of Spring of Life Resource Center, Abuja, and Chairman of the Funeral Planning Committee, Archbishop Jonathan Maji, has described the late Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Head of Civil Service, Mrs. Grace Adayilo, as an exceptional woman and a dedicated public servant.
Speaking at a press briefing ahead of her funeral, Archbishop Maji paid glowing tribute to the late Mrs. Adayilo, popularly known as “Mama Africa,” describing her as a committed civil servant and a true mother to many.
Archbishop Maji also expressed appreciation to the Minister of the FCT, Barr. Nyesom Wike, for the opportunity given to Mrs. Adayilo to serve in such a high-capacity role, and for recognizing the value of indigenes in the administration of the FCT.
“We are grateful to the Honorable Minister for carrying the indigenes of FCT along. We also appreciate the royal fathers of the FCT, the family of the deceased, and all those who have supported us during this period,” he said.
Also speaking, Mr. Joshua Ishaku encouraged the people of the FCT to take this opportunity to pay their last respects to a woman who played a pivotal role in the political and administrative landscape of the territory.
“Mama Africa worked harder than many of us men. With her, there were no limits based on gender. She mentored many—whether they were indigenes or not. She had a Libra nature and constantly bridged divides. When you talk about gender equality, she was the personification of it. We need more women like her in our society,” he stated.
In his tribute, Victor Adayilo, son of the deceased, described his mother as someone who lived a life of service and compassion.
“She loved humanity. She showed love to everyone regardless of their class, background, or religion. Her legacy is one of selflessness and unity,” he said.
Mrs. Grace Adayilo leaves behind a legacy of excellence, compassion, and patriotism that will be remembered for generations to come.
The Service of Songs will be held on Friday, the 19th of September, 2025, at LEA Primary School, Galadima, by 4:00 PM, while the Funeral Service will take place the following day, Saturday, the 20th of September, 2025, at the National Christian Center, Abuja,” he added.
“We invite the public to join us as we come together to honor her legacy and pay our last respects to a trailblazer—the first indigenous female Head of Service in the country.”
