The University of Jos Alumni Association has relaunched its alumni centre project, targeting ₦300 million for its completion.
Speaking at the re-launch ceremony in Jos, the association’s Global President, Dr. Gad Peter Shamaki, stated that his administration is committed to building a more responsive, visible, united, and supportive network for the institution and its graduates.
He listed key achievements of his two-year tenure, including playing an active role in the university’s 50th anniversary celebrations, supporting the institution during the NUGA games, and donating laptops, desktop computers, public address systems, projectors, and medical first-aid supplies.
Shamaki added that the association has also amplified its advocacy regarding the security of students and staff.
He described the proposed Alumni Centre as a permanent home and collaborative hub for past students to hold meetings, network, and contribute to the university’s long-term growth.
“It is our collective responsibility to give back to the institution that gave us education, exposure, community, and opportunities,” Shamaki urged.
The event yielded ₦50million in immediate donations. Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, led the donors with ₦20million. Other contributors included Dachung Bagos Musa (₦5 million), Jos North Local Government Chairman J.K. Chris alongside other council chairmen (₦5 million), and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ephraim Usman (₦1 million).
