Adams College, one of the leading tutorial institutions in Lagos, has honoured more than 280 students who scored 300 and above in the recently released 2025 UTME results.
Over the past two decades, the college has established a legacy of academic excellence and student mentorship. At the grand ceremony, the three leading candidates, Nwobu Charis, Ayinde Okikiola, and Onwurah Princess, who scored 364, 363, and 361, respectively, received cash prizes and academic commendations for their exceptional performance.
In his opening remark, the Director and founder of the College, Mr. Adebola Adams, attributed the college’s consistent success to a deep-rooted passion for youth development. “For 20 years, we have driven excellence not just through teaching but through mentoring and impact,” he said. Adams added that combating societal ills like drug abuse and cultism became a personal mission for him, one he felt compelled to tackle, even without government intervention.
Reflecting on this year’s results where over 280 students scored above 300, he said: “Hard work pays. These students did not cut corners. They earned their success and that is one of the reasons we are celebrating them to encourage others. All of them who scored 300 and above will go home with a certificate, medal and photograph that will be pasted all over the school premises.”
He noted that many scholars came from humble backgrounds, saying, “Their achievement makes both their parents and our school proud.”
Mr. Adams also emphasized the college’s commitment to lifelong mentorship. “Passing UTME is not the end of the game. On matriculation day and beyond, I stand by them, mentoring, encouraging, praying, and guiding them towards greatness even as he informed that the chairman of the day’s event Dr. Femi Aworo passed through this centre 20 years ago,” he added.
Dr. Femi Aworo, who delivered a heartfelt message to the celebrants, encouraged them to remain focused and diligent, citing his journey from the days when he walked from Isolo where he lived with his mother to achieving First Class honors at OAU and securing a scholarship from former President Goodluck Jonathan. “I do not regret my hard work at all,” he affirmed.
An elated Mrs. Nwobu, mother of the highest scorer, who also attended the college, described the founder’s vision as “20 years of excellence and mentorship by Mr. Adebola Adams.”
