From Lateef Dada, Osogbo
Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, has called on the nation’s service chiefs to take immediate action to protect Nigerians in light of escalating security challenges.
Speaking to newsmen in Osogbo regarding the recent surge of violence, including killings and abductions by terrorists in states like Kwara, Kebbi, and Niger, Oyintiloye described the situation as increasingly untenable.
“The recent killings and abductions of innocent Nigerians, particularly worshippers and students, have thrown many families into distress and painted the country as largely unsafe,” he lamented.
Oyintiloye passionately appealed to the service chiefs to utilise all available means to rescue abducted children and halt the senseless killings perpetrated by terrorists.
He said, “Many communities have been rendered desolate due to mass displacement and violence. Parents and families are devastated by the ongoing terror, particularly the mass abductions of school children.”

Oyintiloye insisted that if it requires changing operational tactics, the service chiefs should proceed without hesitation, saying “Nigeria is bleeding, and time is running out.”
While acknowledging the efforts of security agencies, Oyintiloye emphasised that the recent wave of violence, particularly against schoolchildren, necessitates a serious reassessment of security strategies.
He also called on President Bola Tinubu and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu to identify and prosecute individuals potentially sabotaging military efforts in the fight against terrorism. “We need to discreetly uncover those undermining our security forces. These saboteurs must be identified and removed before they inflict further damage,” he stated.
Oyintiloye raised concerns about reports of internal sabotage and possible external collaboration, urging thorough investigations into these allegations.
He commended President Tinubu for his ongoing efforts to ensure the country’s safety and expressed optimism that Nigeria has the capacity to overcome its security challenges with support from all stakeholders. “I urge Nigerians not to lose hope; together, we can surmount these difficulties,” he added.
