As part of the activities to mark the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Golden Jubilee yesterday, the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike embarked on inspection of the ongoing infrastructure projects, praising President Bola Tinubu’s administration for reshaping Abuja’s landscape.

Speaking to journalists after touring multiple sites in the area, the minister expressed delight at the progress, spotlighting the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) and Apo-Wassa Road network.

His inspection started in Gishiri, where he said the roads were on track for inauguration in the administration’s second or third year. He then checked bridge work at OSEX/Ring Road before visiting the Apo-Wassa sector, a key area for Apo traders.

“I am quite impressed by this initiative. We are handling three major jobs. These are expected to be completed, I hope, by August, while the work in the OSEX area will be delivered as part of the third-year anniversary,” he stated.

On the FCT’s 50th anniversary, he stressed that the infrastructure drive goes beyond festivities. “Over the past three years, and this isn’t merely a Golden Jubilee celebration, the President’s tenure has changed the landscape of the FCT,” he remarked, noting that all projects follow the Abuja master plan.

He also addressed the recent strike by the Joint Unions Action Committee (JUAC), rejecting claims of delays. “At the end of the day, there is no winner or loser; this is about the interests of the FCT and its continued progress,” he added. He said union leaders had witnessed the progress firsthand, dispelling misconceptions and confirming optimal conditions for workers to resume duties.
