The African Action Congress, AAC, has upheld the August 9, 2019 expulsion of Omoyele Stephen Sowere stressing that he is not the party’s Presidential candidate for the 2023 Presidential election as claimed.
The party’s National Chairman, Dr. Leonard Nzenwa made this known in a press release he signed and made available to journalists on Wednesday in Abuja.
According to the statement, Dr. Leonard said, African Action Congress, AAC, expelled Omoyele Sowore from the party on August 9, 2019, for sabotaging the party’s 2019 Presidential Election as he Simultaneously held the position of a presidential candidate as well as National Chairman of the party same time thereby exposing the party as an autocratic political party.
Leonard, states further, “the African Action Congress, AAC, is unlike any other political party in Nigeria as it is founded from beginning to promote excellence in democracy both at internal party level as well as outside-party governance positions and other levels. Being a child of circumstance, it abhorred concentration of power on one hand and upholds dilution of power across
functional party lines and offices.
“It vowed to do away with domiciliation of power on power-hungry individuals which has characterized Nigeria’s party management order over the years. Clearly, its leadership design sets a wedge against every arrangement that permits an individual to hold more than one position at a time as it seeks to enforce the strictest credo of participatory democracy whilst ensuring liberty and equality for all members.
“A deviation from this stated democratic dictum, therefore, attracts sanction as it has been counseled by history that when power is concentrated in one hand it incentivizes dictatorial and tyrannical proclivity wherein the holder ultimately becomes a despot that disavows democratic virtues of all descriptions.
“Omoyele Stephen Sowere shamefully brought us back to this dishonorable nadir and arrogantly continued thereto even when the opportunity availed him to retrace his step.
“On October 6, 2018, in CMD, Magodo, Lagos, Sowore clearly showed that he was not a democrat as he willfully deceived party members and faithful(s) that converged as he aborted the party’s first attempt to enthrone leadership of the party and bolted away from the venue once he was affirmed as the party’s presidential candidate which resulted in his becoming the party’s presidential candidate and the party’s National chairman same time.
“As has continually been stated over time by democrats, there is no sin greater than the subversion of the peoples’ will whether it is at the party’s level or any other settings.
“The African Action Congress, AAC, therefore, had no need for a non-democrat even though he claims to be a human rights activist. He was first suspended on May 13, 2019, and finally expelled from the party on August 9, 2019.
“The public is hereby notified that Omoyele Stephen Sowere is not the African Action Congress’ Presidential Candidate for the 2023 General Election.
“African Action Congress will Always Put The People First”! Leonard added.
