Senator Olamilekan Adeola (APC-Lagos West) has described  the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu as the best man to lead Nigeria come 2023.

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Finance, made the statement during an empowerment programme  organised for his constituents, yesterday, in Lagos.

No fewer than 5, 000 constituents, trained in different vocations such as catering, fashion designing, barbing and aquaculture, benefited from the programme.

Adeola described Tinubu as a man of competence and performance, saying he would not disappoint if given the mandate to govern the country.

“We have seen all those contesting to be president of this great country in 2023. We have seen them all and I appeal to Nigerians to choose a leader that will add value. Without doubts, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is the best man for the job. He is able and enabled; he has the capacity to lead and his records of performance speak volumes. I can give the assurance that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is ready, if he is given the mandate to lead, he will not only meet expectations, but will exceed them,” he said.

He described APC as the party with the best programme for the country, urging Nigerians to vote for the party in 2023 for delivery of democratic dividends.

Addressing beneficiaries the senator popularly known as ‘Yayi’ said the essence of the programme was to reduce the dependency on white-collar jobs and promote the virtue of earning a living using vocational skills. He said the training was possible with the collaboration of Federal Cooperative College, Oji River and Federal College of Freshwater Fisheries Technology, New Bussa. He said it is targeted at women and youth within his constituency.

He stressed the need for better capacity building of individuals as well as promotion of micro, small and medium scale enterprises (MSMEs) among the citizenry.

“As a legislator of many years, I have made it of paramount importance that as many youths and women as possible in my senatorial district are given requisite skills and empowered to established them in gainful self-employment. Towards this end, much training for skill acquisition, entrepreneurship development and ICT as well as empowerment with equipment had taken place in the past with thousands of beneficiaries that are now gainfully employed.”

He noted that the empowerment programme was not a political gesture and beneficiaries were not chosen because of their political interests, but by their show of commitment.

“Beneficiaries were selected devoid of any partisan considerations. Public announcements for interested applicants to apply and selection was based on the indicated interests of participants on a first come, first served basis.
