•As CP honours hard working officers

The Delta State Police Command has shot dead five suspected kidnappers in the state.
The Command recovered three AK 47 Riffles and 140 rounds of ammunition from the suspects.
The suspects were said to be members of a notorious gang led by Bellow Abubakar that was terrorizing the people of Ubulu-Uku, Issele -Uku, Issele-Asagba and environs.
According the police, Abubakar the gang leader was among those who were sent to hell during exchange of gun firing with them.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) CSP Edafe Bright said:”Operatives of CP-Special Assignment team, on April 21, 2025, acting on intelligence relating to kidnapping in Ubulu-Uku, Issele-Uku, Issele-Asagba and environs by one Bellow Abubakar and his gang members, the operatives stormed one of their hideouts in Agu-Amawbia forest, Anambra state. During the raid of the suspects’ hideout in the forest, the operatives recovered one Ak-47 rifle, 132 rounds of live ammunition.
“Investigation was extended to another of their hideout in a forest between Issele-Asagba and Otulu, where the said Abubakar and his gang members were waiting in an ambush. The suspected kidnappers attacked the policemen in a fierce gun battle,but the policemen who were aware of the battle ahead reciprocated in like manner.
“ The suspects could not withstand the firepower of the operatives, as they ran in different directions with various degrees of bullet injuries. Five of the suspects, including the said Abubakar,who could not escape due to severity of their injuries were taken to the hospital where they were confirmed dead.
“Two additional AK-47 rifles and 18 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition were recovered in the forest. Manhunt for other injured fleeing suspects in ongoing”.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner Olufemi Abaniwonda has presented commendation certificates to 16 officers of the command in recognition of their unwavering dedication, exceptional performance, and outstanding services in the discharge of their duties.
According to Edafe: “Top on the list is ASP Julius Robinson,who is the Commander CP-Special Assignment Team . ASP Julius Robinson and his team were posted and deployed to Ughelli in the month of April 2024, by the CP with a mandate to bring to a halt the activities of kidnappers and armed robbers in Ughellli, Warri, Sapele, Oghara and other parts of the state.
“Upon that deployment, the CP stated that the team led by ASP Julius Robinson has so far brought calm to these areas and the entire state in general. Operatives of CP-SAT has in the last one year single handedly recorded the following achievements; recovery of 24v AK-47 rifles,four K2/G3 rifles, 21 Pump Action Guns 15 suspected stolen vehicles,32 pump action guns and 560 rounds of ammunition and cartridges
“The CP noted that the commitment shown by these officers is worthy of emulation and are deserving of the commendation given to them. Other operative of CP-SAT presented with commendation letter include: Inspr Joel Osunniran, Inspr Ofumana Samson, Inspr Paul Mamman, CPL Layefa God’sgrace, W/PC Isanmi Naomi among others.
“The CP also presented commendation letter to the widely celebrated W/CPL Nwokolo Mercy, for her exemplary and professional conduct while discharging her duties as a traffic officer in Warri.
“ The CP recounted that on her birthday which was on 16th of April 2025, while she was on traffic duty at Warri Main Market at Robert Junction, traders and well wishers in the market celebrated her on her birthday due to her dedication and love she shows to the public while discharging her duties. The CP said that the force is proud of her and happy that she has brought commendation to the command and the Nigeria Police Force. To return the favor, she is being presented with the Commissioner of Police commendation letter.
“ASP Robinson Julius on behalf of other beneficiaries thanked the Inspector General of Police IGP Kayode Egbetokun for providing all that is necessary to combat crime in the State. He also appreciated the CP Olufemi, Area commanders, DPOs and other officers for creating a conducive working environment for them to thrive. He concluded by saying that they won’t relent because they are fully aware that “the reward for hard work is more work.”
