A Muslim cleric, Sheikh Jamiu Ajadi Sanusi (Amin Olorun), has called on the Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, Iba Gani Adams, and the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) to collaborate with the government at all levels to tackle the issue of insecurity ravaging the country.
Sheikh Sanusi made the call at the 11th Annual Ramadan Lecture, organized by the Chief Promoter of Olokun Festival Foundation (OFF), Adams.
Speaking at the event, which took place at Oodua House in Ikeja, Lagos, the cleric urged Adams to pressurise and liaise with the Federal Government to stamp out kidnapping and other vices in the country.
Apart from issue of insecurity, the cleric also enjoined Nigerian leaders to distance themselves from back bitting, gossips and wasteful spending, saying that a leader is like a lamp that cannot see its base .
He charged traditional rulers in the land to maintain their royal integrity and refrain from questionable practices, calling on Muslim faithful across the country to be very close to God and pray fervently, just as he frowned against fanaticism as, according to him, it is not allowed in Islam.
In his address at the event, Adams paid tribute to the foremost Islamic scholar, the Late Sheikh Ajani Bello, saying that he contributed massively to his life and was one who encouraged his first sojourn to Mecca.
The Yoruba generalissimo expressed his appreciation to the guest Speaker, Sheikh Sanusi who he said had participated at the foundation’s Ramadan lecture for the past five years.
He affirmed that the foundation and OPC under his leadership are firm believers in God.
