Despite the petition, the police allowed the meeting to hold, with DCP Udofia later summoning Ohanaeze leaders to provide further clarification. During the engagement at Force Headquarters, Eze Offiah, Chief Ossai, and other executives reaffirmed that Ogbonna’s tenure had expired and that Ossai was legitimately elected as the new president. Massive Show of Solidarity at FCIID Alagbon

In a further show of support for their leaders, members of Ohanaeze Lagos trooped to the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (FCIID), Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, where police continued their inquiry into the leadership dispute. The Secretary-General, Chief Robert Obasi, dismissed reports of a police invasion, clarifying that the meeting with DCP Udofia was conducted with maturity and neutrality.

Obasi revealed that representatives sent by Solomon Ogbonna struggled to defend their claims, prompting the police to caution them against spreading false information. Despite alleged attempts by Ogbonna’s camp to have Eze Offiah and Chief Ossai detained, the police reaffirmed their commitment to impartiality, emphasizing that cultural organizations have the right to conduct their affairs without external interference.

DCP Udofia scheduled a follow-up session, urging all parties to present substantial evidence to support their claims. The police also warned against misinformation, particularly concerning media reports on their role in the dispute.

Calls for Ogbonna to Step Down

Throughout the unfolding events, several stakeholders, including the Southwest Coordinator, Chief Everest Ozonweke, have urged Solomon Ogbonna to accept the expiration of his tenure and step down honorably. Former Woman Leader Mrs. Violet Uchenna disclosed that Ogbonna had unilaterally obtained a court judgment extending his tenure from four to eight years, violating Ohanaeze’s national constitution and Lagos State by-laws.

Chief Everest Ozonweke attributed the crisis to personal ambitions and political interests, particularly in the lead-up to the 2023 general elections. He reiterated the organization’s commitment to fairness and transparency, promising to provide impartial evidence to the police.

Prince Ubochi, the Traditional Prime Minister of Amaifeke, Imo State, echoed these sentiments, advising Ogbonna to “bow out in honor” and allow peace to reign, having served his term successfully.
