Retired Army, Navy, Air  Force Officers Association (RANAOA) has decried the failure of the Military Pension Board to implement the new minimum wage for its members.

The new wage structure was signed into law a months ago and has been implemented by the Federal Government and most state governments since the past two months.

RANAOA’s publicity secretary, Yusuf Abdulmalik, said in Kano that though they were in touch with the board, their communications were yet to yield the desired results.

He implored President Bola Tinubu to intervene and impress it on the board to immediately commence implementon, given that the new wage structure was now a part of the law.

He explained that following the implementation of the new wage by government at all levels the prices of goods and services in the country skyrocketed, which impacted negatively on the union’s members.

He prayed that the implementation would be accompanied by its arrears, while requesting that it should be paid in bulk, as against installments, which would not be favourable to members.

He also stressed the need for greater details regarding payments credited to them by the board, noting that, of recent, they had recieved alerts, which came without details regarding what was paid: “The benefits of providing more information is awesome. It will shed light on which particular or approved payment is being paid and which arrears or payments are yet to be paid. This will enable us track these arrears and establish those yet to be paid.”
