The Defence and Police Officers Wives Association(DEPOWA), yesterday,donated food items to the Internally Displaced Persons(IDP)camp at Durumi, Abuja.

Items donated by the association included :bags of beans, rice, cartons of noddles, seasoning, tomato paste among other ingredients.

Presenting the items to the leadership of the camp, DEPOWA, president, Mrs. Oghogho Musa, said the donation was  in line with the spirits of the valentine season to share love with displaced persons.

Led by members of the association, Mrs. Musa, said that DEPOWA, had during the just concluded Armed Forces Remembrance Day and Celebration, reached out to spouses of fallen heroes in Rivers and Bayelsa states and said they thought it wise to reach out to the displaced persons.

While noting the plight displaced persons were going through, the DEPOWA president said, “It is important to state that the plight of our internally displaced persons serves as a reminder of the devastating impact of conflict and displacement on innocent lives. It is a sobering reality that compels us to act with urgency and humanity.

She said “Our duty goes beyond mere distribution of aid; rather, it is about restoring dignity, providing comfort, and offering a glimmer of hope in the midst of despair.

“It is centered on reaffirming our commitment to serve all citizens, especially the most vulnerable among us. Accordingly, as we witness the gratitude and relief on the faces of those receiving these palliatives, let us be reminded of the power of compassion to heal wounds and restore faith in humanity”.
