The Eze Ndigbo Ghana HRM Eze Dr Chukwudi Ihenetu has joined other prominent Nigerians to mourn the Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, Mr Herbert Wigwe, who died in a chopper crash in the United States on Friday.
The sad incident has thrown the banking community, Africa International community, and Nigerians into deep mourning.
Wigwe, his wife, Doreen; son Chizi; and a former Group Chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, lost their lives in the helicopter crash which occurred near a border town between California and Nevada.
In a statement issued from the revered Obiukwu Obieziokwu palace in Ghana, HRM Dr Ihenetu who is also Assistant Publicity Secretary Ndieze Ndigbo in the Diaspora described the late banker and financial expert as a nationalist, philanthropist and educationist who has used his wealth and knowledge to help the needy and less privileged.
“I am deeply pained by the death of Wigwe, who has invested a lot in human and capital development .
His death isn’t only a loss to the banking community in Nigeria but also a great loss to Africa and the international community, which has gained a lot from his wealth of knowledge.
“His bank, Access has branches across African countries and in Europe, His schools like Wigwe University with its newly established campus in PortHarcourt are part of the areas he has touched life and which also endeared him to notable leaders of thoughts across the Globe. His death has cut short this wonderful growth.
“I prayed that God would help all his wonderful visions to continue. May his wonderful policies, including the completion of Wigwe University in PortHarcourt, continue to thrive as part of the great legaies he left for mankind.”
While also praying for God Almighty to give the family and Rivers state government fortitude to bear the loss, the Royal Father said Nigeria and the international community has indeed lost a gift in men.
