Fear and apprehension have gripped residents of Ilesa and Osu in Osun State over attack and counter-attack by suspected cultists.
The two towns have been thrown into panic since Wednesday when the killing started at Ilesa following a renewed clash between members of Eiye and Aye confraternity.
Daily Sun gathered that one Oluwaseun (aka Ikwe) was murdered at Ikoyi Power line area, Igbogi Street, Ilesa alongside one SK, a bread seller at around about on Wednesday evening.
Findings showed that a reprisal attack was launched on Thursday morning by another group at Osu in Atakumosa West Local Government, thus leading to the death of three persons.
A source who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent that three persons were killed at Ilesa when the crisis started and another three were killed at Osu town in Atakumosa West, in a reprisal attack.
He said, “Three people died yesterday (Wednesday) but another three were also killed at Osu side around 4 am today (Thursday). They went to retaliate.
“The clash is between Eiye and Aye. Aye firstly killed members of the Eiye and when Eiye retaliated this morning (Thursday), Aye members were also killed,” the source said.
Findings showed that the Wednesday incident caused panic around Ikoti, Omiayo along Sabo Irojo and Ikotun area in Ilesa.
It was further gathered that members of Ave were ambushed on the farm at Osu while some indigenes whose number could not be ascertained were hit by bullets.
The spokesperson of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Kehinde Adeleke, confirmed the incident. She said normalcy has returned to the place.
