The founder and creative director of DAK Brand, Oluwadamilola Agbede, has explained the rationale behind the fashion outfit’s focus on bridal wear in the past few months.

The 26-year-old, self-taught fashion designer, whose brand is renowned for its stylish and creative low-budget fashion concept, avowed that bridal robes are one of her major collections of 2022, even as she looks ahead to 2023 for the release of her Under-5k collection.

Explaining further on the DAK Brand bridal robes, she said: “I started my clothing brand to cater to women who want to look good on a budget. I have been doing that by creating ready-to-wear and made-to-order dresses based on my client’s needs. Naturally, bridal wear is one of the garments that women would have to wear at one point or another.”

Stressing that her target clients are females between the ages of 18 and 45, Agbede added: “Since the marriage age falls in this range, I can’t help but come up with a design portfolio of bridal collections that still aligns with DAK Brand’s policy of ‘stylish but  affordable’ dress.”

The fashion entrepreneur, who studied Accounting at Oduduwa University, traced her interest in designing and sewing bridal wear to the Covid-19 period.

According to her: “People were restricted to movement so there were not too many sales.  However, I took time to top up my craft, learning new skills that will be useful for my fashion brand. I took on bridal outfits, learning about laces and their textures, beading and wedding dress patterns. It was such a beautiful experience for me. Post Covid-19, I worked with a bridal brand, putting my new skills into action.”

Speaking about the affordability of DAK Brand’s bridal robes, she said: “The price of my dresses, generally, range from  N5,000  upwards. However, the eventual price depends on the style and the fabric types that are used. But I can assure you, the bridal robes are no different. They are stylish and affordable.”
