– As PDP Declares Readiness for Rerun

The Director General, Fintiri Governorship Campaign council, Auwal Tukur, has sounded a warning to the electoral body, INEC, that the PDP is ready to sweep the primary Rerun Elections in the state and that the party is geared up and ready to inspect every electronic and paper trail that will be used for the governorship rerun in the 69 polling units in the state.

Auwal Tukur made this known in a press briefing, Thursday, in Yola, Adamawa State.

Tukur said the March 18th elections was good enough to declare governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as winner with over 31, 000 votes ahead of the APC’s candidate but attempts to steal the people’s mandates was resisted by the people.

Auwal Tukur said, “This event is particularly convened to first of all thank the good citizens of Adamawa state for massively voting PDP in the last elections.

“It was a good outing that successfully elected Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri with clear margin of over 31,000 votes ahead of the APC candidate. The votes were credible enough to have declared Right Hon. Ahmadu Fintiri, governor elect. Unfortunately, the INEC failed to do that thereby declaring the elections inclusive with re runs to be held in some wards and 69 units of the state.

“Despite the fact that the election of the governor was inconclusive and many attempts were made by the APC and some partisan electoral officers to steal our mandate, the people of Adamawa state and members of our great party, PDP, however, remained calm and composed. ”

Tukur said, “I make bold to state that while we call for calm engagement and participation of the people and citizens of the state, let us again get to prove to the world that APC did not and can not win this rerun by popular voting.

“That is also to sound a word of caution that the PDP will not in anyway also fold its arms and allow rigging and any violent procedure to undermine the people’s votes and mandate.

“Clearly we are ready to use all the necessary and available legal and constitutional means to secure our mandate.

“With this in mind, as we prepare for the rerun, our resolve is to win through due democratic means.

“It should be on record also that the PDP knows its legitimate ways and will definitely deploy the right and available ways to vote and protect the party’s supporters.

“At this juncture, it is noteworthy to appeal and encourage voters to come out and vote our dear governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for continuity and consolidation of development. ”

Tukur commended the governor for setting a good example for peace and harmonious coexistence in the state and challenged all stakeholders in the electoral process to work towards ensuring a credible and peaceful elections in the state. “Thanks for the kind and considerate nature of the governor whose humility and kind nature helped keep the state in peace and not in pieces.

“As a political party in the past weeks, we have had to cope with wrong allegations made by the APC, deliberately perpetuated to gerrymander votes and cause mayhem. That vile attempt and insincerity to steal the people’s mandate was however massively resisted and clearly rejected by the voice of those that truly understood and defended the right principles of democratic fair-play.

“Well meaning Nigerians, the media, members of the international community and election observers were quick to put on notice the wrong step to announce the APC Governorship candidate as winner who cooked up and circulated fake results ahead of the formal announcement by INEC.

“That again was understood by well-meaning Nigerians as an outright gender manipulation to wrongly indict the conscience of the free minded good people of Adamawa state,” Tukur maintains.

Speaking in the April 15th Rerun, he said, PDP is ready to examine every paper and electronic trail that will be employed at the rerun elections materials in order to ensure no stone is left unturned.

He said, “This is also to let INEC, our umpire know that our party will be timely and ready to inspect and scrutinize all available sensitive electoral material(s) for transparency and effective monitoring.
“In the same manner, while our great political party commends the security agents for the services rendered in the previous elections, it is again timely and most desirable to encourage them to protect and guide the voters with high sense of professionalism they are known for.

“We hope you join us soon to celebrate the anticipated victory and declaration of Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Fintiri as governor on the 15th April, 2023.”
