No fewer than eight people were killed and 80 houses set ablaze when gunmen attacked Chicim community in Mangu Local Government Council,  Plateau State .

Three other  persons sustained injuries and were said to  receiving treatment as at the time of filling this report.

A witness said that the Gunmen stormed the community, which is just a kilometer from Mangu town, at about 10 pm on  Tuesday night and started shooting sporadically.

A resident of the community, Kespan Iliya, told journalists that the members of the community were woken up from deep sleep from the staccato of gunshots fired by the rampaging gunmen.

Not done, the gunmen were said to have moved to neighbouring Gyenbwas, a community in Langai in the same Mangu, where over 80 houses were razed to the ground.

The gunmen were said to have retreated after the attack without any challenge.

No further information was  available as at the time of this report.

Neither Plateau  state police  public relations officer, Alfred Alabo nor the Media Officer of Operations Safe Haven, Maj. Samson Zhakom, were available and their phones could not be reached for comments.
