Eight persons were feared dead, yesterday, while seven people were injured when a commercial bus fell off a bridge and plunged into the Itakpe-Aladja railway line, which is about 50 feet deep.

A witness said the dead victims included six males and two females while the injured were six adults and a child.

It was also gathered that survivors were rushed to a private clinic at Agbor, in Delta State while the remains of the dead were deposited at a mortuary. The lone crash involving the commercial bus with registration number BMA 524 XA, occurred around the Agbor/Ogwashi-Uku axis of the Benin-Asaba-Onitsha highway.

When contacted, Delta State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), Mr. Rindom Kumven, attributed the cause of the crash to fatigue, and added that the driver might have lost control of the vehicle.
