… Protest against me politically motivated –CMD

EKITI State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, dressed in black attire with a black fez cap, in company with some government’s officials, including his Deputy, Dr. Kolapo Olusola, received the remains of six medical doctors who died along Kaduna/Abuja Road on Sunday.
The six doctors, who were staff of the Federal Teaching Hospital (FETHI), Ido-Ekiti, were on the way to Sokoto to attend their annual general meeting of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA).
The six doctors who died were Tunde AladeSanmi of the FETHI, Ojo Taiwo EKSUTH; NMA Secretary, Akinyele Alex; J. Ogunseye of the Health Management Board; President, EKSUTH Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), Olajide O., Dr. Adeniyi James of the FETHI and their driver, Mr. Moses Ajibola.
Fayose received their remains at the popular Fajuyi Park from where the ambulances took the bodies to the morgue of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital.
Many residents of Ado Ekiti lined the streets to behold the remains of the doctors. Some of the onlookers, especially the elderly women, were seen intermittently wiping their faces with either handkerchiefs or their wrappers.
Some of the deceased relatives wept uncontrollably as they beheld the ambulances. The convoy caused serious traffic jam especially at Adebayo Road which leads to the EKSUTH.
Some close relations of the deceased doctors were seen weeping uncontrollably as the ambulances were taking their beloved along the streets of Ado Ekiti to the mortuary.
Fayose, who spoke to journalists after depositing the corpses in the morgue, promised to immortalise the doctors and assist their families. Chief Medical Director of EKSUTH, Dr. Kolawole Ogundipe, said the corpses were being deposited at the morgue for easy identification by their families. One of the victims, Dr Aladesanmi, will be buried on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, FETHI Chief Medical Director (CMD), Dr. Lawrence Ayodele Majekodunmi has described the protest against him over the death of doctors from the hospital by some members of staff on Monday as politically motivated.
“It marvels me that people could link me with a death that happened in an auto crash in a modern world like this. This is very unfortunate and barbaric because doctors from other hospitals were involved in this very sad incident.
“Should we now conclude that those that died in EKSUTH and Ekiti State Hospitals’ Management Board were killed by my colleague, Dr. Kolawole Ogundipe and the state government? What they wanted to do is to heat up the hospital and create atmosphere of unrest which will not be in the benefit of anybody,” he said.
However, the Kaduna State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), yesterday, disclosed that the accident that claimed the lives of the doctors was as a result of overspeeding.
Sector Head of Operations, Deputy Corps Commander, Salisu Galadunci said this in Kaduna yesterday.
