41-year-old man nabbed for having sex with daughter

A 41-year-old man, Odejide, has been arrested by men of Ogun State Police Command for allegedly having sexual intercourse with his 13-year-old daughter.
Odejide, according to a statement by the spokesperson of the command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, was arrested following a complaint by the mother of the victim, who had separated from him years back.
According to him, the mother had reported at Sango Police Station that the victim came to her house at Ijeshatedo area of Lagos to inform her that her father had been having sexual intercourse with her since December 2016.
She added that the suspect threatened to kill her daughter if she discussed the issue with anybody.
The 13-year-old victim, according to her mother, decided to tell her when she could no longer bear the frequent sexual assault from her father.
Upon receiving the complaint from the victim’s mother, the DPO of Sango Police Station, SP Akinsola Ogunwale, detailed detectives to effect the arrest of Odejide, who was residing at Onihale area of Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The suspect, the PPRO said, had confessed to the crime, but attributed his action to the work of the devil.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered that the suspect be transferred to anti-human trafficking and child labour unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Iliyasu equally directed that the victim be taken to hospital for proper medical attention.
