Four persons have been confirmed dead in a violent clash between two rival cult groups in Owo, headquarters of Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
It was gathered that a former Vice chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the local government, Fisayo Oladipupo was among the victims of the cult clash.
The incident, according to sources, happened on Sunday and it continued till the early hours of Monday.
Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) ,Funmilayo Odunlami in a statement confirmed the incident.
However, she said, “we can’t confirm if an APC chieftain was affected, but four people have been confirmed dead.
The PPRO stated that normalcy has returned to he affected area through the intervention of the police, adding that efforts were on to arrest the perpetrators of the act.
A source hinted that the incident was a renewed cult clash occasioned by past crisis between the cult groups involved in the melee.
