215 bag first class as OAU graduates 7,368

The Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire, on Thursday, disclosed that 215 students will be graduating with a first class degrees at the 48th convocation of the university.

At a pre-convocation press conference, Prof Bamire disclosed that the degrees that cut across the 13 faculties will see 2,197 graduating with second class upper division, 2,691 with second class lower division; 755 with third class honours; 61 upper credit; 33 lower credit and 62 pass. He said 13 will bag distinction in unclassified degrees; 59 pass with distinction; 154 pass with credit during the convocation ceremony that will be held between December 12 and 14.

Prof. Bamire said 74 will bag postgraduate diplomas; 708 Master’s degrees and 176 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

The university will confer honorary award on five individuals including Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Group Chairman of Mutual Benefit Plc, Dr. Akinade Ogunbiyi, Prof. Anthony Adegbulugbe, CEO of MTN Nigeria Communications Plc, Prince Karl Toriola and Daere Afonya-Akobo.
