From Noah Ebije, Kaduna
Chairman of Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Anto Usman, has said the council is targeting 95 percent votes for Governor Uba Sani and President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
He said the target was based on the administration’s development interventions in Sanga and its commitment to mobilising the people to support the governor and other APC candidates at the polls.
Speaking in an interview, the chairman said Sanga had witnessed significant development under Governor Sani, like the construction of a 10-kilometre road, ongoing renovation and redesign of the general hospital and the resuscitation of primary healthcare centres across the local government.
He also listed the approval of a satellite campus of Kaduna State University and other interventions as evidence of the governor’s attention to the area, which he said had remained relatively backward for many years.
According to him, the people of Sanga have benefited from the administration’s interventions in infrastructure, healthcare, education, security and human capital development.
He also commended Governor Sani for approving a 100 percent increase in the remuneration of traditional rulers, describing it as a very good step in the right direction and a boost, considering the prevailing economic realities.
He said the council was ready to reciprocate the gesture, adding that efforts were already being made to mobilise support for the president, governor and other APC candidates.
The chairman said Sanga currently has between 35,000 and 40,000 registered voters, expressing optimism that the local government could deliver about 95 percent support for the party.
He explained that the remaining five percent should not necessarily be interpreted as opposition, since some registered voters might not be able to participate in the election for one reason or another.
He also praised the relationship between the local government and security agencies, while calling for increased manpower deployment to complement the ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in Sanga.
