Over 1, 176 beneficiaries of the empowerment programme for artisans by the lawmaker representing Etsako Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Anamero Dekeri, have endorsed his continuity in the green chambers.
This was contained in a statement by the lawmaker’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Benjamin Atu.
The beneficiaries, comprising farmers, automobile repairers, traders, electricians, tailors, hair salon operators and members of the Nigeria Automobile Technicians’ Association (NATA), said the lawmaker had shown visible commitment to the development of the constituency through practical interventions that directly touch the lives of ordinary people across his constituency.
They described him as a man, who believes in the politics of impact and a billboard politician, noting that apart from the empowerment programmes, the lawmaker is also involved in the provision of solar-powered boreholes, school infrastructure, healthcare support, solar street lights, NYSC lodge interventions and youth and women empowerment, among other employment opportunities.
“This is what representation should look like. Representation is not empty speeches, self-promotion without substance or seasonal politics. What Dekeri is doing is representation with evidence, as we are seeing today. Our children are now writing WAEC with their mates without staying behind because he took it upon himself to bear the burden of WAEC for students every year across the Etsako federal constituency. What else is good governance and effective representation?” they asked.
While welcoming the crowd at Eveva Primary School, Okpella, venue of the empowerment programme, the lawmaker expressed gratitude to Governor Monday Okpebolo and Senator Adams Oshiomhole for creating an enabling environment to impact more lives and for their leadership and mentorship roles across the state.
Speaking on his stewardship so far at the National Assembly, he said: “I have no other business at the National Assembly than to serve your interest. Whatever I need to do to ensure that all that belongs to Etsako Federal Constituency gets across to us, I will do it. I have committed myself to the service of Etsako Federal Constituency and I will continue to serve you to the best of my abilities. I have moved bills that will secure sustainable development in our constituency. With me as your representative, Etsako Federal Constituency is in safe hands.
“We are gathering here today to share and partake in the dividends of democracy. Democracy will lose credibility if it does not add value to human life. I will continue to add value to the lives of our people and ensure that everyone is economically empowered in various trades as I continue to strive to create other opportunities that will make life worth living for our people.”
He maintained that the empowerment programme was not going to be the last, as another mega empowerment was already in the pipeline and would also take place within the year. He thanked political leaders across the three local government councils, ward chairmen and other executives. “I have never failed in keeping my promises and I will not fail you all,” he assured.
The high point of the mega empowerment programme was the distribution of various empowerment tools, including sewing machines, hair-drying machines, farm chemicals, sprayers and other farming tools. The NATA members all went home with complete mechanical and electrical tool boxes, while welders went home with welding equipment. Alumaco workers were also given working tools for glass cutting in the three local government councils.
