The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has called for sustained dialogue between the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and political parties to ensure that electoral guidelines are implemented in line with the Constitution and do not create operational challenges for stakeholders ahead of future elections.
The call was made by IPAC National Chairman, Yusuf Dantalle, while speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics programme.
Dantalle stressed the need for collaboration in reviewing court judgments, electoral regulations, and the practical constraints faced by both INEC and political parties.

“INEC needs to engage with political parties in looking at the judgment, the constraint of political parties, look at the constraint of INEC, and then see how INEC will not violate the law of the Constitution,” he said.
He explained that such engagement would help strengthen Nigeria’s electoral system and reduce conflicts arising from interpretation and implementation of electoral laws.
According to him, a more consultative approach would ensure smoother election management and improve trust in the democratic process.
IPAC reiterated its position that election management bodies must work closely with political actors to avoid legal and procedural disputes that could affect the credibility of future elections.
