Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Kenneth Okonkwo, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has expressed confidence that the party is set to end the dominance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking on Channels Television’s Morning Brief, Okonkwo described the ADC as the leading opposition platform in Nigeria, citing recent defections of nine senators and numerous House of Representatives members to the party.

Okonkwo also criticized the February 21 area council polls in the Federal Capital Territory, calling them a sham and accusing FCT Minister Nyesom Wike of restricting opposition activities.

He reiterated the importance of a united opposition, noting that earlier advice to merge parties like the PDP and Labour Party had led to the formation of a coalition under the ADC platform.

Looking ahead, Okonkwo said more politicians are expected to join the party, emphasizing that the ADC is prepared to challenge the APC in the upcoming elections.
