2019 elections: SDP candidate drags INEC to tribunal for  omission of name from ballot

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) senatorial candidate for February 23 National Assembly election, Barrister Tony Chukwuelue, has concluded plans to challenge the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Akwa for omission of his name from the ballot paper .

At a press briefing at his Abatete residence, yesterday, Chukwuelue said his party nominated him unopposed to run for Anambra Central Senatorial, ran the best campaign ever in the history of the district, but his ambition was scuttled by an illegal and unlawful exclusion of his name from the ballot paper.  

He noted that the umpire had earlier published his name and particulars at the INEC headquarters in Awka and Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government headquarters, insisting that the election must be set aside and a fresh one conducted at a future date with him and his party (SDP) to be included in the ballot.
