2019: Elections ‘ll be calm in Ekiti, Fayemi assures

Ekiti State governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has said the general elections will be calm and peaceful in the State.

Fayemi who received the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Training) Yakubu Jibril, in his office in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, assured that his party, the All Progressives Congress, would play by the rules and “not do anything to the disadvantage of other parties.”

Speaking on the level of security in the state, Fayemi commended the newly-posted Commissioner of Police, Asuquo Amba, for demonstrating “capacity and competence” in managing the state’s security architecture.

The governor said Amba had been able to curb some of the security challenges his administration met, adding that “Ekiti people can now go about their lawful businesses without fear.”

In his remarks, DIG Yakubu Jibril said his visit to Ekiti was to check the level of preparedness of police personnel for the forthcoming election.

Yakubu who expressed satisfaction at the level of preparation assured that nobody would be humiliated or harassed as the police would ensure a level playing field for all political parties.

He urged the electorate to come out en masse and perform their civic duty devoid of chaos.

On the DIG’s entourage were the Commissioner of Police (Ekiti) Amba, DCP Abiodun Alabi and DCP Rhoda Olofu.
