Former Post Master General of Nigeria (PMG), Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), Alhaji Ibrahim Mori Baba, has poured encomiums on Chief Ajirotutu Olopade, who retired from NIPOST 20 years ago.
In his goodwill message on the occasion, Baba said: “I knew Chief Olapade for more than 25 years now through the late PMG, Abubakar Musa Argungu. I could not then understand why he was so close to late Argungu until, he was introduced to me.
“Chief is a simple person and easy going. He mixes well with people, no matter the tribe or religion. As an Inspector of Postmen before his retirement, he made a lot of efforts to improve Quality of Mail Service Delivery (QMSD).
“This drew the attention of the late PMG to his commitment and selfless service to NIPOST. His dedication to duty and hard work brought him very close to his superiors, admired by his colleagues and very popular among his subordinates. Mail Quality of Service was his second name.
“Olapade has always been close to the community he lives with. I am not therefore surprised that he is the Ajirotutu of Egba land.
“It was through his influence that the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Chapter, conferred me with Merit Award on September 1, 2003.
“As Olopade celebrates 20 years of life in retirement, I wish him more years of joyful life in sound mind and good health. It is indeed a milestone to still remain strong despite the difficulties faced by retirees in accessing their benefits.”
Baba prayed God to “grant him success in his endeavours.”
Also, Director, Operations, NIPOST, Abuja, Mrs. Toyin Egbesola, shared her experience: “Chief, as he’s fondly called, crossed my path in 2011. I never knew him before then but was introduced to him. Ever since, there has been no looking back.
“Chief is a destiny helper, a rallying point, he fights for a worthy cause he believes in. He is also very passionate about NIPOST, an organisation he left two decades ago.
“He is a very good family man worthy of emulation. He goes all out for his children to make them succeed in life. I wish him many more successful post-retirement life in good health and wealth.”
