Says five polling units have zero voters

The Kebbi State independent Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that 1,890,015 have collected their PVCs out of the 2,032,041 registered voters in the state and they would be casting their votes in 3,738 polling units across the 21 local government areas of the state.

Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Barrister Ahmad Bello Mahmud disclosed this while briefing newmen at the commission’s state headquarters, Birnin Kebbi ahead of the Saturday Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Mahumud explained that the “number of registered voters stood at 2,032,041 with poling units of 3,743 and the number of polling units where elections will hold are 3,738 with 5 zero units. The number of PVCs stood as 1,961,028 with number of uncollected PVCs stood as 71,013.

“The ad hoc staff, starting with collation officers at LGAs, senatorial districts, House of Reps are 504, while supervisory presiding officers are 374 with 14,972 POs, APOs I, II and III, respectively”.

Mahmud who commended the security agencies for collaborating with the commission, disclosed that about four flashing areas have been discovered namely; Dakowasagu, Sakaba, Fakai and Ngaski Local Government Area stressed that the security council are going to meet over the areas to take necessary steps on them.

He disclosed that each polling unit in the state have been assigned with a BVAS which have capacity of battery that could work for ten good hours even in the areas without network services.

The REC said that the five zero poling units were located in Argungu,Ngaski,Suru and Birnin Kebbi towns.

He added that the training, screening, and recruitment of ad hoc collation, Returning, SPOs, PO’s and APO’s are in top gear and virtually concluded.
