Ten best graduating students of the Plateau State University, Bokkos, have been awarded N500, 000 each for their academic excellence, discipline, and resilience.

Strom Foundation, represented by Ibimina Young Arney, made the presentation to the students at the university 8th and 9th combined vocation held in Bokkos.

Arney pointed out that the Foundation exists to ensure sustainable impact in the communities where they work stressing that they work together with local and regional communities to help build strong, vibrant environments where people, especially young people, can be self-motivated.

Strom representative also noted that the Foundation created shared value by empowering communities, strengthening institutions, and fostering partnerships that enable sustainable development through education, community development, and social responsibility initiative.

Arney further argued that education, empowerment, and access to opportunity are central to that mission, because when people are given the right support, they go on to transform families, institutions, states and the nation noting that the Strom Scholars Award is a direct expression of that commitment.

“To the scholars being honoured today, we are proud of you. We believe in you. And we look forward to the day when you will stand as leaders, innovators, and change-makers, not just beneficiaries of opportunity, but creators of it for others,” Arney said.

According to her, the foundation stand for integrity, excellence, innovation partnership, and sustainability adding that they believe that true success is measured not only by what they build, but by the value they leave behind.

“This belief is what led to the creation of the Strom Foundation. To the award recipients today is about celebrating your hard work, but it is also about signalling our belief in your future. You represent the intellect, character, and potential that will shape Plateau State and Nigeria in the years ahead,” she said.

Arney explained that their presence is also deeply connected to Plateau State through the Hill Station Project, where Strom serves as the concessionaire stressing that it is a long-term investment in tourism, employment, skills transfer, and economic growth for the state.

“It reflects our confidence in Plateau State’s potential and our commitment to contributing meaningfully to its development. None of this would be possible without leadership and partnership.”

She further acknowledged the support and vision of Governor Caleb Mutfwang for collaborating with private-sectors, which has been instrumental to the success recorded so far.

She maintained that the governor’s commitment has created an enabling environment for projects like Hill Station to thrive and for initiatives like the Strom Scholars Award to take root.

“With the continued support of the Plateau State Government, Strom remains fully committed to expanding our impact across the state, through the Hill Station Hotel, through community engagement, and through initiatives such as the Strom Scholars Award.”

The governor, who spoke on the occasion, lauded the foundation for its gesture

He complemented the efforts of the foundation by rewarding each of the 22 first-class graduates with N250,000.

He urged the graduates “to go forth with courage, lead with integrity, innovate with purpose, and serve with compassion.”

He emphasised that “the future is not something you inherit; it is something you build.”

The governor highlighted his administration’s deliberate efforts to reposition Plateau State as a centre of academic excellence since assuming office.

A total of 2,485 students graduands were awarded certificates during the ceremony.
