Gov Babagana Zulum has paid an unscheduled night visit to an old hospital in Borno southern town of Biu.
Zulum who is on tour of some towns and communities in the southern parts of the state since Monday to share foods and monies to the locals, visited the Biu Genral Hospital late night.
He had directed state official to commence rehabilitation of the health facility. He also ordered for the recruitment of five medical doctors and 20 nurses
“I will send a team to come and examine the hospital before I leave this town. We will do the reconstruction in phases so that the provision of healthcare services will continue while the reconstruction work is ongoing,” Zulum disclosed.
The Monday night action was one in a strong of dusk visits especially to hospitals and health facilities in the state.
Zulum earlier in the day, distributed bags of rice and grains to about 18,000 families in Damboa, a restive town located south of Maiduguri severally attacked by Boko Haram.
The distribution of the foodstuffs is is part of Federal Government’s subsidy removal palliatives and the state government focus to care for the welfare of people mostly affected by over a decade of insurgency.
