Following the battle of interests arising from the Zamfara North Senatorial District rerun primaries conducted in Zamfara State, where prominent leaders of the party showcased their separate interests, Senator Tijjani Yahaya Kaura has stated that his mandate cannot be stolen.
He made the declaration in his hometown, Kaura Namoda, where he briefed working journalists in the state and social media operators on the outcome of Monday’s primaries, confirming himself as the true winner of the exercise and the choice of the people of Zamfara North Senatorial District.
In his words, the All Progressive Congress (APC) chieftain said: “Following the results of the last purported primary elections conducted on May 19, 2026, as the Almighty Allah would like it, the primary elections were reconducted on Monday, November 2, 2026, here in Zamfara North Senatorial District, comprising Kaura Namoda, Birnin Magaji, Zurmi and Shinkafi Local Government Areas.
“The outcome of the reconducted primaries made me emerge as the sole candidate for the Senatorial seat of Zamfara North Senatorial District for All Progressive Congress, our great party.
“I express my gratitude to the Almighty Allah, electorates, the people and the stakeholders of our great party for standing by me and giving me their votes and all those whose support has made me emerge as the sole candidate for Zamfara North Senatorial District.
“However, I am disappointed over the unconstitutional moves of certain persons to truncate the freedom of democracy in Zamfara North Senatorial District.
“I observed that, when the election processes were conducted yesterday, it was clear that the pendulum of victory was swinging in my favour, but the persons in question, who care less about the choice of the people and the development of Zamfara North Senatorial District, attempted to steal my mandate by hijacking the Chairman of the NWC for Zamfara North Senatorial District rerun primaries to an unknown destination in order to hinder him from announcing the results of the exercise.
“The National Working Committee of our great party, poised with the zeal to redeem and secure the people’s mandate through fairness and transparency, gathered themselves under the instructions of the national leadership of the APC and had another NWC chairman chosen to complete the duties of the Zamfara North Senatorial District rerun primaries.
“I want to state expressly, to the hearing of everyone, that my mandate cannot be stolen.
“I call on the people of Zamfara North Senatorial District to remain very calm because I remain the constitutionally elected Senatorial candidate for Zamfara North Senatorial District under our great party, the APC, and no one can challenge that.
“I also urge all our party supporters, members, stakeholders and admirers to come out in mass and vote for all our party candidates come 2027 general elections.”
