The Enugu State Police Command has recorded fresh operational successes in its sustained Yuletide security operations with the arrest of a car theft suspect and the recovery of two Toyota Camry vehicles reportedly stolen in Enugu and Abuja.
Police operatives attached to the Commissioner of Police Monitoring Unit (CMU) and the Crack Tactical Squad, in the early hours of December 12, 2025, swiftly responded to a distress alert circulated through the Command’s Control Room on an alleged armed robbery and vehicle snatching along Aria Road, Enugu.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, the suspects abandoned a Toyota Camry 2.4L vehicle while attempting to escape after being trailed by the operatives.
“After intense trailing, the criminal elements abandoned the car, which was subsequently recovered, and fled into the surrounding forest,” Ndukwe said, adding that “a manhunt is still ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.”
In a related operation, operatives of the Command’s Crack Tactical Squad, working in synergy with personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), arrested a male suspect on December 11, 2025, at about 3:30 p.m., and recovered an ash-coloured Toyota Camry 2.4L.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle was earlier reported stolen from Kubwa, Abuja, in July 2025. The vehicle’s owner was contacted and subsequently confirmed ownership.
