Insecurity: Ondo community seeks Amotekun’s intervention

The Owena-Ayetoro community in Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State has raised the alarm over the increasing level of insecurity in the town 
To this end the community has appealed to the authorities of the South West Security network codenamed Operation Amotekun to establish a base in the area to tackle kidnapping and other criminal acts.
The community in a statement signed by the chairman and secretary Messers Charles Akinwon and Olorunsola Olutosoye respectively called on the Amotekun Corps to come to their rescue and ensure the security of their lives and property.
According to the statement, the Owena-Ayetoro community has become a habitat and hideout for bandits and criminals.
This, the community said has left the residents in fear and apprehension.
The statement reads “as at this moment, to say that Ayetoro Owena Community has become a habitat and a hideout for bandits and criminals is no overstatement. On the 29t6 of July, 2026; bandits took over the former Army check point where a resident was shot.
“As at the time of writing this letter, the victim is still under intensive care in a hospital in Akure due to the injury sustained from the gunshot.
“On that same 29” July, 2026, there was a case of kidnapping of a young boy said to be working under one Mr. Monday at Ago Store, very close to the Former Army Check Point. Still in the month of July, 2026; a suspected bandit was found in possession of various harmful weapons in the Community. Fortunately, he was apprehended and handed over to, the Idanre Unit of the Amotekun Corps.
“We strongly believe that the presence of the Amotekun men in Ayetoro Owena will, to a great extent curb the activities of these devilish individuals in the Community and give a solid assurance to the residents who are now living in fear.
“May we state that the Community is well prepared to accommodate the Amotekun Corps and we have put in place, befitting and suitable structure to serve as the base, has to some considerable extent being furnished.
“Not to forget to mention that we have earlier made this appeal to the Agency both orally and in writing, including physically visiting your esteemed office more than two times,” the statement added.
