…Accords him a heroic welcome

The Youths President of Edem-Ani Ogwugwu Autonomous community in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu, Hon. Kenechukwu Omeje has commended the traditional ruler of the community, HRH Igwe Samuel Asadu (Igwe Ogadagidi) for his philanthropic gestures and developmental strides in the community.
Omeje made the commendation in Nsukka on Saturday during a reception organized by the youths of the community to welcome the traditional ruler on his return from the United States of America.
He said that the youths of the community resolved unanimously to receive the monarch with celebration any time he traveled to his former base, the United States of America, and returned to the community as a way of showing him an appreciation for his development and empowerment programmes in the community.
“Today, Edem-Ani Ogwugwu youths are happy to welcome our traditional ruler who traveled outside the country after the Christmas mass and New Year celebration and returned to the community safely.
“We are celebrating his return to show him appreciation and to demonstrate our love and solidarity for his benevolence and philanthropic gestures to the youths and the entire community.
“Just three months ago, and at a time when many people are complaining bitterly about the economic hard in the country occasion by fuel subsidy removal, the monarch empowered 65 youths from the community with N1m each to enable them to start any business of their choice and become useful for themselves, the community and humanity.
“So, there is no better way to express our gratitude and admiration for a leader who has touched the lives of his people in positive ways and has returned for Easter celebration,” he said.
Narrating how the traditional ruler has turned the fortunes of the community around in terms of basic social amenities, youth, and women empowerment, the youth leader said that the monarch has turned their community into a “small London.”
“Ever since Igwe Ogadagidi became our traditional ruler, everything about Edem-Ani Ogwugwu community has changed positively, and he has created an atmosphere of peace, unity, and love among the people.
“Igwe built, equipped and donated a free hospital to the community, and just recently he made history by providing the community with its first-ever tarred road.
“He sponsored the reticulation of water to ensure that all strategic areas of the community have access to clean and portable pipe-borne water.
“He established a Food Bank, where indigent members of the community eat food free daily, and he has pledged to keep the Food Bank operational throughout his reign.
“Over fifteenth youths from our community are in different countries of Europe doing their post-graduate programmes under his sponsorship, this is coupled with other numerous things like building houses for the widows, sponsoring and supporting neighborhood watch, as well as using his monthly salary to pay the elders’ council members in the community,” he said.
Speaking, Igwe Asadu said that he was overwhelmed by the show of love and solidarity by his subjects and vowed to sustain his empowerment and developmental programmes in the community.
“Yes, youths and the entire community are happy with what God is using me to do in the community.
“We want to create a community and society where everybody will have free access to quality health care, good access road, steady power supply, security, free and clean pipe-borne water, youths and woman empowerment opportunities.
“To the glory of God, Edem-Ani Ogwugwu ancient kingdom is on the part of achieving sustainable economic development.
“God is using me to make this a reality and I will not relent in my quest to take the community to the next level,” he said.
The Igwe commended the youths for the reception according to him, and their peaceful conduct dispositions in the community.
Sunday Sun reports that the youths had gathered at Odenigbo Roundabout in Nsukka LGA where they received the traditional ruler and escorted his motorcade while singing and dancing to the Igwe’s palace.
