Youth groups in Yobe State have kick-started political activities including voter enlightenment and endorsement of identified political leaders ahead of the 2027 governorship race. .
The Democratic Enlightenment for Good Governance, a consortium of youth groups in Yobe State said yesterday at an enlightenment programme in Damaturu, Yobe capital the event was aimed at sensitizing the electorate on the qualities of contestants and the process.
State Coordinator of the group, Adamu Hussaini Yunusa, explained that the group is concerned about the choice of leadership at all levels especially for the governorship race in 2027.
“We want our people to take uninformed decision in the choice of their political leaders in 2027,” he disclosed.
He said the group is also endorsing a bureaucrat, Lawan Kolo Geidam for the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship aspirant.
He said the group took the decision following wide consultations and deliberations involving 178 coordinators drawn from the state’s local government areas.
He urged other youths to support progressive movements to provide credible political leaders in the forthcoming electioneering.
