Workers in Kwara State have joined the nationwide strike, refusing to work until their demands for a salary increase and better working conditions are met.
Daily SUN who monitored the strike around Ilorin and environs notes that the strike has paralysed government activities, with offices, schools, courts, and other institutions in Ilorin and its environs shut down.
Many areas that are prone to traffic hold up was free and there was less vehicles on the road .
Comrade Murtala Olayinka, NLC Chairman in Kwara State,who spoke yo the news men expressed satisfaction with the high level of compliance, noting that workers are tired of the status quo.
He urged the government to address their demands to alleviate their suffering.
To prevent potential hijacking, the unions adopted a sit-at-home strategy, which has brought government activities to a standstill.
Comrade Abdulrahman Onikijipa, TUC Chairman in Kwara, pledged solidarity with the NLC, ensuring a united front for the strike.
