The Federal Capital Territory will, on Saturday, February 14, 2026, play host to the Run Club Abuja Women’s Run 2026, as Run Club Abuja (RCA) brings together women from different backgrounds for a Valentine’s Day gathering focused on support for widows and postpartum mothers, sisterhood, and self-love.

The event, scheduled to be held at Eagle Square, will commence with assembly at 6:00am, while the run and walk will officially kick off at 6:30am. Participants will have the option of a 10-kilometre run or walk, making the programme inclusive for both seasoned runners and beginners. Activities are expected to end by 10:00am.

Organisers said the 2026 edition is intentionally designed to redefine Valentine’s Day by shifting the narrative from romantic love to women standing in solidarity with one another, particularly in support of widows and new mothers. According to the organising team, “Valentine’s Day is often about romantic love, but the Run Club Abuja Women’s Run 2026 marks the day by spotlighting sisterhood and care for fellow women, reminding us that collective support is a powerful act of love.”

Speaking on the essence of the initiative, a lead organiser noted that the event is not a competition but a platform for empowerment. “The RCA Women’s Run was created to remind women that movement can be joyful, healing and powerful. It is not about speed. It is about showing up for fellow women,” she said.

The major attraction of the event is its strong social impact component. In partnership with headline sponsor, Modern Shelter, and other collaborators, the RCA Women’s Run ’26 aims to provide rent support for 100 widows and deliver care packages to postpartum mothers, with organisers projecting a direct impact on no fewer than 200 women.

Reflecting on the maiden edition of the run, the RCA team said the transformation experienced by participants remains the event’s most powerful outcome. “We watched women arrive unsure and leave strengthened by community and purpose. That transformation affirmed why this initiative matters,” the organisers added.

Modern Shelter’s involvement as headline sponsor, according to the organisers, underscores the company’s commitment to building environments where women can thrive, both socially and economically.

The event has also received backing from several partners committed to women’s health and empowerment. These include Abuja Investment Company Limited, Maims Events, Aproko Doctor Global, Tulip Bodycare, Simpa Projects, Sewa Al’Adire, JPFoundation, U.O.J International Limited, Hanvi Art and Fashion, WCCIMA, Pocari Sweat, Lesha Hospital, Mare Clothing, and Beta Digitals.

The Run Club Abuja Women’s Run 2026 is designed for women of all ages, fitness levels and backgrounds, while allies who support women’s wellbeing and empowerment are also welcome.

Beyond the run, participants will engage in group warm-up and cool-down sessions, wellness activations, music, photo sessions, community bonding activities, post-run networking and games.

Organisers described the event as more than a fitness exercise, stressing that it provides a safe and affirming space where women are supported, celebrated and uplifted, especially those navigating vulnerable life seasons. They added that registration details and further updates are available via Run Club Abuja’s official platforms, urging interested participants to register early ahead of what is expected to be one of the most impactful community runs of the year.
