Woman docked over theft of N250,000

A 29-year-old woman, Bosede Ogunkanmi, was on Tuesday arraigned in an Osogbo Chief  Magistrate’s Court in Osun  over alleged theft of  N250,000.

Ogunkanmi is facing a two-count charge bordering  on theft.

The Prosecutor, Insp  Joshua Oladoye, told the court that the accused person committed the offence on Sept. 2, 2016,  at about 12.45 pm at Oja Oba area of  Osogbo.

Oladoye said the accused stole the  N250,000 from a bag belonging to one Olaniran Kafayat.

He said the offence contravened Sections 412 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol.II  Laws of Osun, 2003.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge and her counsel, Mrs Bose Adeyinka, pleaded for bail.

The Magistrate, Mrs Mary Awodele,  granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 and two sureties in like sum.

Awodele said the sureties must reside within the court’s  jurisdiction, show  evidence of tax payment and  produce two passport photographs   attached  to  an affidavit of means.

The case was adjourned till  July 18 for mention. (NAN)
