Human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong said the Federal Government does not appear serious to prosecute former Kaduna governor, Nasir El-Rufai over his recent controversial comments.
During a recent live interview, El-Rufai had said someone who tapped the phone of National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu informed him the NSA ordered his arrest.
On Monday, the Federal Government filed charges bordering on cybercrime against the ex-governor in a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CR/99/2026. No date has been fixed for his arraignment.

Reacting to the matter in a Tuesday interview on Channels Television, Effiong said FG has not shown seriousness in its approach to the case.
“I am telling Nigerians that the Federal Government of Nigeria has no interest in prosecuting Nasiru El-Rufai on this issue. There are not interested in prosecuting him,” the lawyer said.
He argued that charges filed by the State Security Service (SSS) lacked important particulars.
“A charge must have particulars. What is the name of the equipment? When was it acquired? Where was it kept? Who has access to that equipment? These are questions that a serious investigative agency has to answer. What is their attitude to it,” Effiong stated.
